Ryan Lee Blu-Ray Commentary
This is one of my favorite scripts, which is not the same thing as saying it’s a good script. In fact, this is the opposite of a good script. Why? Because when you’re doing a 3-panel web strip, word space is at a premium, and I completely overloaded this one with text. Particularly on the Iron-Fast bottle in panel 2. Mike and I have been doing this long enough now that I know its a bad idea, but sometimes its worth it.

Case in point: in the script, I left Mike the option of posing Iron Dragon with the nunchaku at a suggestive 45 degree angle if we really wanted to be ridiculous. And Mike, God bless em’ dove right in there and went straight to the bottom of the barrel with me! I think it turned out really terrific, and once in awhile that’s all that counts.

Comics aren’t just for kids anymore!
Ryan pretty much gave me free reign with the design on Iron Dragon, who is our thinly veiled Iron Fist analogue. Our guy is a real bro. I wanted to have a “Karate Kid Johnny” vibe with him and I think I pulled that off. This guy dresses as a skeleton EVERY Hallowe’en. That ridiculous hair line. What a jerk. Of course, the head on his dragon tattoo is a penis and the tail points directly to his crotch. He’s that guy.
My main regret with this one is trying to hand letter the text on the bottle. Why do I do these things? If I were to do it again, I would just add that in the colouring stage. Ah well, it works for now.
