If you’re feeling a little lost on this one, click on the “first” icon with two arrows pointing left. This is a callback to our first published strip! Inimitable Man is just never going to live that one down.

The joke, if you want to call it that, is just pedestrian wordplay. But more importantly, I got to write a phantom of John Constantine, and that is golden. Once upon a time in 1991 I spontaneously decided “You know what? I always read superheroes. I’m going to randomly pick out the weirdest, most pretentious looking piece of trash on the rack and take it home with me.”

That pretentious piece of weird trash was Hellblazer # 41, it just happened to be the debut script from this guy you might have heard of called Garth Ennis. I was instantly smitten, and I will always love John Constantine. He taught me a lot. He taught me to smoke cigarettes, (carried that habit for about 15 years) and he taught me to say “bollocks” a lot, and he taught me that you can have a TV show cancelled and then kind of un-cancelled nine times in a six month period.

So yeah. Jon Ovaltine, The Hellrazor…scratch it off the bucket list!

Continuity! I love it!
I don’t have a ton to say about this one. I really dig the world building stuff, references to previous gags and all. Will this storyline continue? How will Inimitable Man cope with these strange new feelings and urges?
For Jon Ovaltine, I used Sting from the 80’s as a reference. Original, I know.
